Announcement
- We'd like to thank old time Grangers star Ray Crilly for turning up and playing on Friday night when we had just 11 players. Much appreciated by all. NEXT WEEK IS A DAY GAME...CHECK FIXTURE LIST.9/7/99 -
The game that was rained out against Redcliffe has been written off. We still want to play the Grange Derby against Thistle, so stay tuned for that one. THE MID-SEASON PARTY WILL BE ON A SATURDAY NIGHT... INVITATIONS WILL BE HANDED OUT AT TRAINING AND GAMES.1/7/99 - The game against Thistle is called off due to bad weather. Have a good weekend.
6/5/99-
There is a discussion of a MID-SEASON PARTY!!! This would be held on our bye week, Friday the 30th September. Submissions of interest to either myself or Eroy. Likely to include free beer and food...as always. Entertainment is yet to be booked.
24/5/99 - Just a short admin note boys: We did a bit of check on numbers the other day and found that we COULD have 21 people turn up at once to play at our games!!! A scary thought. So i have devised a system which should see any problems of over supply of people and lack of game time solved.
Procedure:
1) YOU ARE ALL TO EITHER EMAIL OR RING ME (Mezza) BY WEDNESDAY NIGHT ABOUR YOUR AVAILIBILITY. IF YOU DONT KNOW THEN YOUR CONSIDERED OUT. Im sorry for those who like to leave things to the last minute but the problem of too many players arises from unexpected turn-ups.
2) IF YOUR TURN UP TO TRAINING THE FOLLOWING TUESDAY BEFORE THE GAME, YOU WILL BE GUARENTEED A GAME. *** NOTE: THIS DOES NOT MEAN A FIRST TEAM PLACE. Chances are those who start on the bench will get 20 minutes at least. We will deal with more than 17 players at training when we come to that problem.
3) IF YOU DONT COME TO TRAINING (FOR WHATEVER REASON), YOU GO INTO A POOL OF PEOPLE WHO WILL BE ASKED TO MISS A GAME....ONLY IF WE HAVE OVER 17 PLAYERS AVAILABLE FOR THAT WEEKS GAME....IF WE HAVE LESS...THEN NATURALLY YOU CAN ALL PLAY. IF WE HAVE MORE, THEN SOMEONE WILL BE SELECTED AT RANDOM TO MISS A GAME AND IT WILL BE NOTED... THEY WILL NOT BE ASKED TO MISS A GAME UNTIL ALL OTHERS (IN THE POOL) HAVE MISSED A GAME. By the way, Subs will only pay $2 for AWAY games. This should be a good incentive to make the trip.
Its a pretty simple system, want to play week in and week out? Turn up to training. If you cant, then you may be asked to miss 1 week ONLY if we get too many. This should both encourage people to training and make sure that everyone gets a run on the park.
Thanks.
22/5/99- The game last Friday against the Dolphins was a washout. Thanks to all those who showed up for nothing, next time we'll make sure they can get in touch with us early enough to let everyone know.
15/5/99 - News from the NCL :
There are a few major changes and issues that have been finalised last meeting that the team needs to be aware of.
The Eels and Northstar have joined into one team and are under the northstar banner.. Thus all matches against the eels will result in a bye for that week. All referees and linesmans fees are split down the middle for both teams. Referees have been told to red card any player that swears in a loud manner.......SO BE VERY CAREFUL AT the end of the first round the league will split up to 2 divisions, 1 and 2. top half div 1, botttom half div 2. Meetings will be held at grange on the following dates mon 21 june and 26 june. If a team does not have a representative at these meeting they will incure a 1 point penalty. They really want at least one person to show up. Reminder that the home team needs to call thru results, by 3pm sunday to stuart inglis. If this doesnt occure the home team gets a one point penalty.1/5/99 -
Training per usual, home game next week…bring the family.20/4/99 - Shit, OUR GAME HAS BEEN CHANGED TO FRIDAY NIGHT…AT VIRGINIA…7:30PM KICKOFF
17/4/99 - Just a reminder that our next home game is on Saturday night at 7:30pm.
9/4/99 - Guys, our next home game (in 2 weeks) cant be played on a Friday night…we need to make a decision on what other day suits us best. Think about it and lets us know what other night is best for you.
6/4/99 - If it is raining AT 7:30pm, training wont be on. I'll still turn up just in case.
5/4/99 -
Rob's injury woes - "Just an update. Had the surgery last week. Fortunately only the medial, not the cruciate ligaments, were ruptured. I now have plaster from heel to thigh and it stays on for 6 weeks in total (31 days to go - not that I'm counting). Another 6 weeks after that the surgeon reckons I should be able to run (but only straight lines). Shit.Good luck with the games
Cheers Rob"
29/3/99 - No game on Good Friday. Training as usual on Tuesdays at 7:30pm. Have a good Easter!!!
19/3/99 - "Guys, Karen, gave birth to a baby girl yesterday afternoon. We have named her Annelise Elizabeth and she came in at 6 pounds 5. Both baby and mother are doing well. Cheers, Ray."
-- Grangers look forward to the services of one Lachlan Crilly in about 17 years time!!!
18/3/99 -
Update on Rob's condition: "Medial ligaments ruptured in two places, possible damage to cruciate ligament and cartilage as well! So couldn't be much worse really - except that they don't have to amputate I suppose. He was quite amazed by the severity of the blow. Surgery on Tuesday (at least it's soon) then cast for 6 weeks. Worst thing is, even after all the time, sweat and money, it will never be as strong again..Anyway mustn't whinge. Maybe I'll come and watch you play when it's settled down a bit after the op.
Cheers, Rob."
16/3/99 - Rob visits the knee specialist on Thursday. Lets hope his injury isn't as bad as first thought. Pray for no operation.
17/3/99 - The latest information for this season's league structure is as follows. There are 17 teams (no Bribie, Deception Bay or Brighton). Each team will play each other once. After that the first round, the teams will split into 2 divisions. There has been no draw for the first round made up yet.
FOR THE WEEK OF THE 2nd April
